The World Bank has said in the conference of 17 Friends of Democratic Pakistan held in Tokyo that Pakistan is will get 4 to 6 billion dollars.
Vice President of World Bank for South Asia, Guerrero has said that Pakistan will get around four billion dollars from donors as development assistance while rest of the amount will be spent for political and security issues. She briefed when asked about economic support projections at the conference, “We are still making efforts, we think this is possible, so (collectively) 4 to 6 billion dollars is the right range.”
The senior economist was sure that Pakistan, a critical anti-terrorism player in the global security efforts, would be able to qualify for loans under the International Bank for the development lending within next two years.
Guerrero assured that the World Bank would support Pakistan for improving its power supplies and investment environment. Husain Haqqani, Pakistan’s ambassador to the US has also expressed the hope for a positive outcome. He said, “We expect that the international community will reassure Pakistanis that Pakistan’s security will not be jeopardized for being a frontline state to root out terrorism.”
