Viator.com launches four new country sites across Europe

London Increases profitability for 2010

(TDN): TRI Hospitality Consulting reports London hotels are forecast to enjoy increasing profitability during 2010.  At the same time, while hotels in the UK provinces will see a slight dip in profitability during 2010, they will accelerate to almost double digit growth in 2011.

Austrian and Amadeus sign long-term full content agreement

(TDN): Austrian Airlines and Amadeus have signed a long-term “Full Content” agreement. The contract runs until the end of 2014. As of 1 March 2010, travel agencies worldwide will have guaranteed access to the full range of Austrian Airlines fares and inventory through Amadeus, with no surcharge.

28 per cent passenger growth for Norwegian in January

(TDN): Norwegian continues the strong passenger growth. In January, Norwegian transported 827,743 passengers which is a 28 percent increase from the same period last year. This months strong passenger growth and load factor is very satisfactory, particularly taking into consideration that January is seasonally the weakest month of the year.

Wizz Air launches flights from Serbia

(TDN): Wizz Air announced that it would enter the Serbian market by opening two new routes from Belgrade, as early as Summer 2010. The initial network will include services to Dortmund and London Luton from 12 June and 24 July respectively.

Vacation.com reveals positive 2010 forecast

(TDN): Representing close to 25 percent of the leisure market, Vacation.com, North America’s leading travel services marketing organization, is cautiously optimistic about the upcoming year after analyzing membership sales reports. Early results from wave season are positive; member agents cite that demand is high with a vast majority of suppliers.

Business travellers spreading their wings as business confidence improves

(TDN): The serviced apartment sector is proving one of the early beneficiaries of increased corporate confidence as early 2010 sees a resurgence in business travel. Paul Constantinou, Chairman of Quest Serviced Apartments, says his franchisees are already seeing an increase in the number of corporate organisations seeking serviced apartments for their travelling executives.

U.S. hotel industry leading indicator-HIL-increased during December

(TDN): Economic research firm e-forecasting.com in conjunction with Smith Travel Research announced that their U.S. hotel industry leading indicator-HIL-increased during December, the ninth consecutive monthly increase for the indicator. The indicator went up 1.8 percent during the month, following a 1.3-percent increase in November.

HIL, a monthly leading indicator for the U.S. hotel industry, is a composite leading indicator that, on average, leads the industry’s business activity four to five months in advance. The latest increase brought the index to a reading of 109.4. The index (more…)

CAAS joins ASPIRE

(TDN): The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) will be joining the Asia and Pacific Initiative to Reduce Emissions (ASPIRE)partnership, by signing the Joint Agreement on 1 February 2010.
