28 per cent passenger growth for Norwegian in January

(TDN): Norwegian continues the strong passenger growth. In January, Norwegian transported 827,743 passengers which is a 28 percent increase from the same period last year. This months strong passenger growth and load factor is very satisfactory, particularly taking into consideration that January is seasonally the weakest month of the year.

Wizz Air grew 33% in 2009

(TDN): In the course of 2009 the company opened a new base in Prague adding up to a total of eleven bases in Central and Eastern Europe; took delivery of 7 additional brand new aircraft bringing the fleet to 27 Airbus A320; and launched 40 new routes, resulting in a network of 147 destinations.

Emirates to launch double-daily services to Jakarta

(TDN): Emirates airline will advance its existing operation to Jakarta with the introduction of a double-daily service, effective 1st March 2010. Presently, Emirates operates 11 flights a week to the Indonesian capital city.
 
The three additional flights will be operated on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, using the Boeing 777 family of technologically-advanced aircraft in two-class configurations. The expansion (more…)

London Oxford Airport sees welcome return of Jersey flights for 2010

(TDN): Oxford Airport is delighted that C.I. Travel Group has extended its summer service between Oxford and Jersey in the Channel Islands for the 2010 season. The re-introduction of the service is owing to the success of the summer 2009 launch flights on Saturday afternoons.

First Airbus A380 passenger flight to Antarctica

(TDN): A Qantas Airbus A380 “superjumbo” - designated as flight QF 2903 - departs Melbourne, bound for Antarctica. As well as being the only sightseeing flight over Antarctica this New Year’s Eve, the aircraft will also be the first commercial flight by an A380 over the south polar region.  And not only will the 450 passengers and crew on board be among the first in the world to experience the first sunlight of the new year and the new decade - as occupants of the first commercial A380 over Antarctica, they will also become aviation pioneers.

British Airways and Malaga City make plans for a joint future

(TDN): British Airways online and direct sales manager, Keith Chuter, and Francisco De La Torre, the Mayor of Malaga Town Hall, put pen to paper this month, signing a letter of intent, making official their plans to further promote Malaga City in the British market. The letter lays the foundations of a two year agreement that will see British Airways use its online channels, to highlight the many flights available to Malaga from the UK, and further increase tourism to the city.

Etihad Airways selects Kronos to improve operational efficiency

(TDN): Etihad Airways, the national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has signed an agreement with leading workforce management software provider, Kronos Incorporated, to automate and optimize planning and management processes for its 3,900 cabin and flight crew members.
