The JW Marriott Hotel Miami voted among 2009 world’s Best Business Hotels

(TDN): The JW Marriott Hotel Miami has been voted by Travel + Leisure readers among the top hotels for business travelers around the globe. As part of the magazine’s. 2009 World’s Best Awards survey, readers rated hotels in 24 cities worldwide based on how well they met the highest standards of convenience, service, and comfort for the business traveler. According to a December 2009 Travel + Leisure magazine article accompanying the list, the writer noted that “these top hotels combine service, technology, and comfort - everything that today’s business traveler needs on the road.”

Ireland’s Kelly’s Hotel selects Amadeus to deliver PMS Solutions

Hotusa Hotels adds 72 new associated hotels

(TDN): The chain of independent hotels belonging to the Hotusa Group consolidates its international expansion with the addition of 50 new establishments outside Spain. Between the months of October and November, Hotusa Hotels have enlarged their portfolio with 72 new associated establishments. The chain of independent hotels belonging to the Hotusa Group thus reinforces its position as one of the major hotel consortiums at international level, offering a wide range of services which, as is demonstrated by the upsurge of new additions, has become of particular interest amongst the independent hotels in an economic situation as complicated as the current conditions.

London Oxford Airport scoops Best Business Aviation Airport Award

(TDN): London Oxford Airport last night scooped the accolade of Best Business Aviation Airport 2009 from the Airport Operators Association (AOA). The AOA praised the airport management’s vision and commitment for successfully building an attractive business aviation facility within just 18 months and its owners for their ongoing commitment to investment in the facility. The award was presented to Oxford Airport’s Managing Director Steve Jones during the Association’s Annual Conference Dinner at London’s Hilton Metropole Hotel by Simon Calder, Travel Editor of The Independent.

London defies gloom as Europe continues to decline

(TDN): With the notable exception of London, all the cities surveyed in October 2009 experienced declines in RevPAR levels. Jonathan Langston, managing director, TRI Hospitality Consulting, stated: “Whilst the decline in occupancy levels seems to be stabilising across Europe, there is still significant downward pressure on average room rates, particularly in markets heavily reliant on leisure demand.”

Lufthansa welcomes new Star Alliance member Continental

(TDN): Following the official accession of US carrier Continental Airlines to Star Alliance, Lufthansa and Continental Airlines will now be able to offer their mutual customers a range of new benefits. From 31 October, for example, all Continental flights between the United States and Germany will also be bookable under a Lufthansa flight number.

This applies to the services operated daily between Newark (New York) and Hamburg, Berlin Tegel and Frankfurt, as well as to the new route between Houston and Frankfurt, which Continental (more…)

Hotels.com reveals Europe’s biggest holiday spenders

(TDN): Hotels.com’s latest Hotel Price Index (HPI) has revealed that Irish and Norwegian travellers are bearing the mantle of being Europe’s biggest spenders when travelling abroad, spending on average 122 euros per night on a hotel room.
